Windows Essentials Codec Pack - это пакет разнообразных кодеков, программ, аудио и видео фильтров. Разработчик отмечает на своём сайте: установив данный пакет, у пользователя будет воспроизводиться 99% всех известных форматов мультимедиа файлов, которые можно загрузить из интернета. Видео фильтры, входящие в состав пакета Windows Essentials Codec Pack, позволяют значительно улучшать качество видео материала и позволяют настраивать даже самые труднодоступные видео-опции. После установки данного пакета пользователю будут доступны опции автоматического обновления компонентов, входящих в этот пакет.
